⚡ DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 — Chamonix: tandem paragliding over the Mont Blanc valley

  • ⚡ The first day is best devoted to Chamonix’s most spectacular yet tourist-friendly activity — tandem paragliding with a licensed pilot. Flights usually take off from launch sites above the Chamonix valley, and the main magic of the route is the views of glaciers, jagged peaks, and the Mont Blanc massif itself. The active part with briefing, ascent, and flight usually takes about 2–3 hours, while the flight itself often lasts 20–30 minutes depending on the wind and format. Level — beginner-friendly, instructor only: the tourist does not pilot independently, but receives a short briefing and flies in tandem. Safety is ensured by an official operator, wind and cloud checks before takeoff, certified equipment, a helmet, and the pilot’s right to cancel the flight in unsuitable conditions. Before booking, it is important to check insurance, weight limits, age, pregnancy, back and heart conditions, as well as the briefing language, exact meeting point, and whether the lift/transfers are included in the price. In Chamonix, the weather changes quickly: even a clear morning does not guarantee a flight later in the day, so it is better to leave extra time and not plan a second demanding activity on the same day.

Day 2 — Les Houches: bike park or guided e-MTB in a family-friendly mountain area

  • ⚡ On the second day, the route shifts to Les Houches — a gentler and more beginner-friendly part of the valley, where lifts operate in summer and guided e-mountain bike formats or a light introduction to bike park infrastructure are available. This is not about aggressive downhill riding for experts, but about a controlled adventure on official trails and forest routes with good logistics. The active part of the day usually takes 3–5 hours, including bike pickup, gear adjustment, briefing, and several riding sections with a guide or instructor. Level — for beginners / moderate in the guided e-bike format; for a full bike park experience, you should honestly clarify your experience and choose only the easiest lines. Safety is ensured by an official rental or school, a mandatory helmet, proper bike sizing, the use of open and marked trails, and the fact that lift operations depend on the season and trail conditions. Before booking, check the opening dates of Bellevue and Prarion, whether the bike pass is included, whether MTB experience is required, whether protection beyond a helmet is provided, and what happens in case of rain, and whether the format can be changed to an e-bike ride if the trails are wet. After rain and at the start of the season, surfaces may be slippery and some lines and lifts may be closed, so Les Houches is especially good as a flexible and safe base for an active day without excessive risk.

Day 3 — Chamonix: rafting on the Arve with a guide

  • ⚡ The third day is rafting on the Arve River in the Chamonix valley, a classic summer adrenaline-light format at the foot of Mont Blanc. The Arve is known as a glacial river with beautiful alpine views and stretches of white water suitable for guided commercial trips. For an ordinary tourist, it is better to choose not a sporty whitewater challenge but an introductory group descent lasting about 2–3 hours including changing and briefing; the time on the water itself is often about 1–1.5 hours. Level — beginner-friendly / instructor only. Safety here is provided by a licensed river guide, helmet, life jacket, wetsuit, official launch/take-out points, route selection according to water level, and the possibility of cancellation in unsuitable conditions. Before booking, it is important to check age restrictions, confident ability to stay afloat, medical contraindications, active leisure insurance, transfer to the base, photo services, and the briefing language. The main seasonal nuance is the water level: in spring and after heavy rain the river may be more powerful, while toward the end of the season conditions are calmer, so the same route can feel very different. After the descent, it is better to leave the second half of the day free for recovery, a walk around central Chamonix, and a calm dinner.

Day 4 — Montenvers and Mer de Glace: glacier walk only with a certified guide

  • ⚡ The fourth day is devoted to the most “mountaineering-like” yet still controlled activity of the itinerary — a guided glacier experience in the Montenvers / Mer de Glace area. This is a legendary Chamonix spot, reached from the center by the famous red Montenvers train, and the location itself is associated with the history of mountaineering around Mont Blanc. For an ordinary tourist, only an official format with a certified mountain guide is suitable here; independent glacier access without experience and a guide is not appropriate. The active part of the day, including the train, meeting the guide, preparation, and the walk, usually takes 4–6 hours. Level — moderate / guide only: the route may include uneven moraine, stairs, sections on ice, and simple technical elements that the guide adapts to the group and conditions. Safety is ensured by a highly qualified guide, mandatory equipment, the guide’s decision based on the actual glacier condition, weather, and group composition, as well as official access via Montenvers. Before booking, check what exactly is included in the program, whether all equipment is provided, whether good physical fitness is required, whether there are restrictions related to knees and altitude, and whether insurance for glacier walking is valid, as well as whether the Mer de Glace complex itself and the ice cave are open on the required dates. It is important to remember seasonality: closures in the Mer de Glace area are possible due to ice conditions, snow, technical works, or complicated access logistics, so this day is best booked with a buffer and reconfirmed the day before.

Day 5 — Chamonix: Aiguille du Midi and Accro’Park des Gaillands as a gentle final adventure

  • ⚡ The final day is best made vivid but less demanding: first Aiguille du Midi as a high-alpine panoramic point with a powerful mountain effect, and then, if desired, Accro’Park des Gaillands, the valley’s largest ropes park. The ascent to Aiguille du Midi is not in itself an extreme sport, but it delivers strong emotions: the cable car rises almost into the heart of the high Alps, where the scale of Mont Blanc is felt especially sharply. It is worth allowing 2–3 hours for the viewing areas and an unhurried visit; after that, you can move on to a light adventure format in Gaillands for 1.5–2.5 hours. Level — beginner-friendly for the park when choosing easy courses; the Aiguille du Midi lift is suitable for ordinary tourists, but the altitude can feel serious. Safety is ensured by the official cable car, access regulations for the viewing zones, staff supervision, and weather restrictions; at Accro’Park — a briefing, a continuous belay system, helmet, and operator supervision. Before booking, check altitude tolerance, sensitivity to cold, restrictions for children, the lift schedule, the likelihood of queues and wind-related closures; for the ropes park also clarify minimum height, session times, and supervision rules. An important seasonal nuance: at Aiguille du Midi, access to certain zones, including Step into the Void, may be limited due to wind, overcrowding, frost, or lift operations, and Accro’Park operates seasonally and in early May/June is often open only on weekends or holidays.
