🧭 DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 — Arrival in Düsseldorf → Oberhausen: getting to know the “New Center” and Kaisergarten

  • ✈️ Logistics: from Düsseldorf Airport (DUS), the easiest way is by regional train to Oberhausen Hbf—usually 20–35 minutes, without complicated transfers. From the station, tram 112 or express buses (SB90/91) will take you to the “Neue Mitte” stop near Westfield Centro. Check in, rest, head out for an easy walk.

  • 🌳 Kaisergarten and the Slinky Springs to Fame bridge are a great “gentle start” for kids: a spacious park by the palace, a free mini-zoo (Tiergehege), big playgrounds, a duck pond, and a photogenic “springy” bridge in white-and-rainbow tones. It’s a good place to burn off energy after the trip and have a picnic.

Day 2 — LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Oberhausen: a big LEGO day

  • 🧱 Indoor LEGO park: a Ruhr mini-world made of millions of bricks, family rides, a 4D cinema, a “factory” where you make your own brick, and huge building zones. Perfect for preschoolers and younger school kids. Strategy: arrive at opening, do the popular zones first, then the calmer build tables; lunch—in the café area or at the “Coca-Cola Oase” in the neighboring mall.

Day 3 — SEA LIFE Oberhausen: underwater tunnels and the world of sharks

  • 🐠 The aquarium is literally just a few minutes’ walk from LEGO: freshwater/saltwater themed zones, a shark tunnel, rays, and hands-on activities for kids. Plan 2–3 hours and don’t rush—little ones find their favorite spots on their own. Afterward—a walk along the marina promenade and ice cream.

Day 4 — AQUApark Oberhausen (water park) + rest

  • 💦 A themed water park in a mining style: warm pools, slides, “mine” decor—kids like the “story + water” combo. Great for bad weather and a reset after busy days. In the second half of the day—quiet time at the hotel, board games/LEGO, early dinner.

Day 5 — TIGER JUMP (trampolines) + 5D Underwater Minigolf

  • 🤸 A large trampoline arena with zones for different ages (including BigAirBag, a ninja course, and slam-dunk). Great for training the body and burning off “extra energy.” Nearby is a bright black-light mini-golf with an underwater theme—spectacular for both younger kids and teens.

Day 6 — Oberhausen Gasometer + Westfield Centro at an unhurried pace

  • 🏛️ The Gasometer is a giant round exhibition tower where displays are presented as an “immersion”: light, sound, height, and a rooftop panorama on a clear day. Afterward—relaxed shopping and lunch at Westfield Centro (there are often seasonal kids’ activities here), plus the playground by the waterfront.

Day 7 — Duisburg: zoo with a dolphinarium

  • 🦒 Zoo Duisburg is one of the region’s family favorites: koalas, a dolphinarium, themed houses, and lots of greenery. Walk in short “loops” of 60–90 minutes with snack breaks. The train ride is about 10–20 minutes, then tram/bus following the signs.

Day 8 — Duisburg-Nord: an industrial adventure park

  • 🏭 Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord is an amazing “industrial safari”: a former steelworks has been turned into a park with towers, viewpoints, paths, and lighting after dark. Kids love the “real stairs and pipes” (with adult supervision). Bring snacks and waterproof jackets.

Day 9 — Gelsenkirchen: ZOOM Erlebniswelt zoo

  • 🗺️ “A trip around the world in one day”: the Arctic, Africa, and Asia as separate worlds with excellent zoning, trails, and playgrounds. For kids—lots of observing and natural “hiding spots.” It’s convenient to plan for 4–5 hours; the rest is free play on the playgrounds at the entrance.

Day 10 — Bochum: planetarium + Mining Museum

  • 🌌 The Zeiss Planetarium (morning kids’ program) is space in a “wow” format without overload. Then the Deutsches Bergbau-Museum with an “underground” mine and an elevator up to the spoil tip/mining tower. Day formula: science → lunch → museum → free play in the nearby park.

Day 11 — Bottrop: Movie Park Germany

  • 🎬 A movie-themed park with rides for families: film-based zones, parades, water rides. Arrive at opening; check height restrictions at the entrance. Travel from Oberhausen is usually 60–75 minutes by public transport (trains + shuttle buses to Feldhausen).

Day 12 — Düsseldorf: Aquazoo Löbbecke + Nordpark

  • 🐧 A city aquarium and natural history museum with beautiful dioramas and routes “for little explorers.” Afterwards — a walk through Nordpark with fountains and a Japanese garden. We return before dinner so the kids have time to rest.

Day 13 — Essen: Grugapark (playgrounds, mini zoo areas, seasonal mini train)

  • 🌼 A big city oasis park: botanical corners, picnic lawns, play areas, and seasonal events. An easy “green” day before departure: minimal logistics, maximum fresh air.

Day 14 — Oberhausen: marina, souvenirs, and flight

  • ⛵ A walk along Heinz-Schleußer-Marina, last photos at Slinky Springs to Fame and buying souvenirs at the LEGO Store/Westfield Centro. Transfer by train to Düsseldorf Airport (usually 20–35 minutes + SkyTrain to the terminals).
