🧭 DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 — Historic center and a Bavarian-style start

  • 🚶 Walk: Marienplatz → Neues Rathaus (with the Glockenspiel) → Frauenkirche → Viktualienmarkt. Narrow lanes with old signs, arcades, and pretzel stalls — a perfect “warm-up” before the nightlife. At Viktualienmarkt you can grab a quick bite of local delicacies and get into the Bavarian vibe.

  • 🍺 Evening — a Munich legend: Hofbräuhaus am Platzl. Under the vaulted beer hall, Maß mugs clink, brass bands play, and the walls are covered with murals of Bavarian scenes. They serve classic brews and hearty dishes; it’s loud, fun, and very local.

  • 💃 Night: P1 (Haus der Kunst) — an icon of Munich’s club scene with selective face control and a fashionable crowd. The dress code is closer to smart/chic; best to come after 23:30. Alternative — Schumann’s Bar by the Hofgarten: a cult cocktail bar to “get going” before dancing.

Day 2 — English Garden, Eisbach surfers, and Glockenbachviertel bars

  • 🚴 Active: rent a bike/e-bike via city services and do a loop through the English Garden — from the Garden Pavilion to the Japanese Tea House and the Chinese Tower. On the bridge by the Haus der Kunst, stop at the Eisbach standing wave: only experienced surfers should surf here (strong current and rocks), but watching is a pleasure in itself.

  • 🌳 Break: beer and a pretzel under the canopy in the beer garden by the Chinese Tower — huge tables, brass bands, and an unpretentious, very lively atmosphere.

  • 🍸 Night — Glockenbachviertel: Zephyr Bar is known for signature cocktails and neon half-light. Then bar-hop through the district’s cozy speakeasies and small pubs. If you want a club beat, drop by Blitz depending on the party schedule.

Day 3 — Kunstareal: contemporary art + techno

  • 🏛️ Day: Pinakothek der Moderne (four collections under one roof: 20th–21st-century art, works on paper, design, architecture) and the neighboring Museum Brandhorst (Rothko, Warhol, Nauman; the façade shimmers with ceramics). A short walk — and you’re in the cozy courtyards of Maxvorstadt with coffee spots and vinyl shops.

  • 🍷 Aperitif: Grapes Weinbar near Platzl — local and natural wines, perfect before the night program.

  • 💿 Night: Blitz Club on Museum Island — powerful sound, non-mainstream lineups, a crowd that’s there to dance. Come around 00:30–01:00, stay until dawn. Dress code: comfortable and appropriate, without “glamour.”

Day 4 — BMW Museum + Olympic Park and a big club

  • 🏁 Morning/day: BMW Museum (brand history, the “silver bowl,” iconic models from the Isetta to the M series) + BMW Welt across the street. Then the 1972 Olympic Park — the lake, transparent roof canopies, a ride up the Olympic Tower. At sunset, head up Olympic Hill (Olyberg) — views over the whole city and the Alps in clear weather.

  • 🍺 Evening: Augustiner-Keller (Arnulfstraße 52) — one of the most atmospheric beer gardens/cellars. Chestnut trees, wooden tables, wooden barrels, and the soft amber of Helles do their job.

  • 🪩 Night: Neuraum by Hauptbahnhof — a large multi-room venue (from EDM and techno to hip-hop), late entry, dancing until morning.

Day 5 — Isar River: SUP/rafting + food around Viktualienmarkt

  • 🏄 Active: if the weather allows, do a SUP/rafting day. A regional classic is corporate/group rafts Wolfratshausen → Munich (May–September) with live music and stops; for SUP it’s better to choose calm sections of the nearby lakes (Starnberger See: easy logistics from Munich by S-Bahn). Within the city on the Isar the current is strong and there are rocky sections — assess your experience realistically, check local rules and the water level.

  • 🥨 Post-activity: Der Pschorr (Viktualienmarkt) — local products, Bavarian classics, and a great craft-beer mood.

  • 🎭 Night: Call Me Drella (near Maximiliansplatz) — pop/disco/hip-hop parties with a touch of madness and glitter. Nearby is bar-packed Maximiliansplatz (including 089 Bar) for bar-hopping.

Day 6 — Werksviertel-Mitte and sports at height

  • 🧗 Daytime — Boulderwelt München Ost gym (spacious halls, levels from beginners to advanced, easy access from Ostbahnhof). A good alternative is Jochen Schweizer Arena (indoor surfing and wind tunnel) slightly south of the city.

  • 🎢 Evening — Werksviertel-Mitte (by Ostbahnhof): post-industrial courtyards, street art, Ferris wheel panoramas, bars and stages. A great place to плавно перейти from aperitif into the night.

  • 💃 Night: check the listings — resident parties by Harry Klein (often held at venues Rote Sonne/Pacha), house/techno and strong visuals. If you prefer pop and Latin vibes — Friday and Saturday programs at Pacha.

Day 7 — Day trip to the Alps: Garmisch-Partenkirchen

  • 🚆 Logistics: München Hbf → Garmisch-Partenkirchen by regional train: ~1 h 15–30 min non-stop. On arrival — a walking trail to Partnach Gorge (Partnachklamm): stunning cliffs, tunnels, and turquoise water; or a bus to Eibsee with a cable-car ride up Zugspitze (in clear weather the views are phenomenal).

  • 🥨 Lunch: Alpine snack bars and terraces at the foot of the mountains. Consider mountain weather (layers, waterproof jacket) and the return-train timetable.

  • 🕺 Return to Munich and a relaxing evening: if you still have energy — go back to your favorite club/bar (Blitz/Neuraum/Pacha), or do a “Bavarian chill” in a beer garden around Hackerbrücke/Hirschgarten.

Day 8 — Schwabing and a final bar hop

  • 🚶 Schwabing and Ludwigstraße: university arcades, museums/galleries, anti-cafés, vintage and coffee shops, green courtyards. A great lounge day to “wrap up” shopping and souvenirs.

  • 🍻 Finale: choose your style — a big beer garden (Hirschgarten), cozy cocktail bars in Maxvorstadt, or the club triangle by Maximiliansplatz (Pacha, 089 Bar, Call Me Drella). End the trip with sunrise over the Isar or on a quiet hotel balcony.
