🧭 DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 — Hollywood: Boulevard, Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre

  • 🚶 Start on Hollywood Blvd by the Ovation Hollywood complex (formerly Hollywood & Highland): this is where the neighborhood’s “calling cards” meet — the Walk of Fame, the Dolby Theatre (home of the Oscars ceremony), and the historic TCL Chinese Theatre with stars’ handprints in ceramic. Walk from the Highland Ave intersection to Vine St: the sidewalk stars are a living reference book of film history. Step into the TCL lobby to examine the Chinese-style façade details, then head to the open Awards Walk gallery toward the Dolby: at dusk the stairs and lighting create a beautiful perspective down the boulevard. For a break, visit the historic The Hollywood Roosevelt hotel, linked to the legend of the first Academy ceremony: a lobby and bar with Hollywood chic. Transport: the B Line “Hollywood/Highland” station is right in the complex; to Universal City by метро ≈ 4–6 min, to downtown (7th St/Metro Center) ≈ 15–20 min, not counting wait time.

Day 2 — Views and space: Griffith Observatory and the park

  • 🚶 Morning — Griffith Park: winding trails through chaparral, views of the HOLLYWOOD sign and downtown. Hike up to Griffith Observatory (2800 E Observatory Rd): exhibits about the sky and terrestrial physics, free telescopes in the evenings, and the dome itself — an Art Deco icon. From the terraces — movie-like LA panoramas. On the trails, budget 1.5–2 hours of easy walking with water and sunscreen. Getting there: from Hollywood — rideshare/taxi ≈ 20–35 min depending on traffic; by public transport it’s faster to get to the Los Feliz area and then take local buses/park shuttles.

Day 3 — Universal Studios Hollywood: movie rides and the backlot

  • 🎢 A day for “cinema as an attraction”: Universal Studios Hollywood (100 Universal City Plaza). The studio tram tour takes you through sets and soundstages, and the modern part of the park is a packed lineup of attractions based on movie and TV universes. Best to arrive at opening and plan 6–8 hours with breaks: wristbands/Single Rider will save time in lines. The easiest way is the B Line to “Universal/Studio City” and then walk/take the escalator to the entrance (≈ 10–15 min from the platform). In the evening — CityWalk for dinner and neon photos.

Day 4 — Behind the scenes: Warner Bros. Studio Tour (Burbank)

  • 🎬 A leisurely behind-the-scenes tour of Warner Bros. lots (entry at the Welcome Center: 3400 Warner Blvd, Burbank). This isn’t an amusement park, but a true studio tour: backlots, soundstages, costumes and props, from Friends to superhero franchises. Plan 3–3.5 hours + a coffee break. From Hollywood — take the B Line to “Universal/Studio City” and a short bus/taxi ride (≈ 10–20 min), or go straight by rideshare ≈ 20–35 min depending on traffic.

Day 5 — Miracle Mile: LACMA, La Brea, and cars

  • 🏛️ A museum lineup on Wilshire Blvd: LACMA (5905 Wilshire Blvd) — the largest art museum in the western U.S.; nearby — La Brea Tar Pits & Museum (5801 Wilshire Blvd) with active Ice Age tar “traps”; across the street — the Petersen Automotive Museum (6060 Wilshire Blvd) with its shiny ribbon-like façade and the “Vault” of rarest cars in an underground storage. Doing 2–3 museums in one day is the max; take breaks in courtyards and cafés. From DTLA — E Line to “Wilshire/La Brea” (with a transfer) or buses along Wilshire; from Hollywood — a short taxi/bus ride.

Day 6 — Academy Museum + farmers market and The Grove

  • 🎞️ Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (6067 Wilshire Blvd) — a modern museum about the craft of filmmaking: from screenwriting and makeup to cinematography and the Oscars. Afterward — Original Farmers Market (6333 W 3rd St) with dozens of stalls and world cuisines; next door The Grove — a trolley, palms, shopfronts, and leisurely shopping. This is an “easy” day: 1–2 exhibitions + a gastronomic kaleidoscope, relaxing by the fountains.

Day 7 — Downtown LA: The Broad, MOCA, and the concert district

  • 🏙️ DTLA clusters around Grand Ave: The Broad (221 S Grand Ave) — a free contemporary art collection (reserve tickets in advance), nearby MOCA Grand Avenue (250 S Grand Ave) and the steel waves of Walt Disney Concert Hall (111 S Grand Ave). Head down to Grand Central Market (317 S Broadway) — the noisy, tasty “stomach” of downtown. Transport: from Hollywood — B Line to 7th St/Metro Center (≈ 15–20 min) and a short uphill walk/by bus.

Day 8 — Santa Monica: ocean, pier, and sunset in Palisades Park

  • 🌊 A day by the water: Santa Monica Pier — retro rides and scenic decks; above the shore stretches Palisades Park with palms and bay views. It’s convenient to get there by E Line: 7th St/Metro Center → Downtown Santa Monica ≈ 45–50 min + 5–10 min on foot to the pier. Catch the sunset from the park bluff: sky, the Ferris wheel, and the shimmering coastline — a postcard on the first take.

Day 9 — Getty Center: art, gardens, and panoramas

  • 🖼️ Getty Center (1200 Getty Center Dr) — a hilltop campus with a collection from Italian masters to photography, a garden-sculpture, and views of the Santa Monica Mountains. Plan: 3–4 hours for museum + garden, with a must-do coffee break on the terrace. Best reached by taxi/rideshare from the west side (30–45 min with traffic) or by buses with transfers; factor in time for the funicular from parking/entry up to the upper plateau.

Day 10 — Hollywood off the boulevard: Runyon Canyon and West Hollywood

  • 🥾 Morning — a trail in Runyon Canyon Park (entrance e.g., 2000 N Fuller Ave): 1.5–3 mile loops with views of the sign and downtown. Afternoon — shop windows and graffiti on Melrose Ave, pop-up galleries, coffee shops, and vintage. Evening — West Hollywood bars. Mind the heat: trails have no shade, bring water/a cap; budget 2–2.5 hours for the trail out and back.

Day 11 — Exposition Park: science, nature, and the rose garden

  • 🔬 In one cluster — the Natural History Museum (900 Exposition Blvd): dinosaur and mineral halls; the California Science Center (700 Exposition Park Dr) with big interactive exhibits; between them — the Exposition Park Rose Garden for a break on the grass. Easy to reach via the E Line (Expo Park/USC or Expo/Vermont stations) + a short walk.

Day 12 — Silver Lake and Echo Park: art cafés and boats

  • 🦆 A mellow day in the eastern neighborhoods: Echo Park Lake with swan pedal boats and views of the skyscrapers, then cafés and designer shops in Silver Lake. Lots of walking and local aesthetics: the perfect break from the “big museums”.

Day 13 — Free day: top up your favorites

  • 🗓️ Go back to what grabbed you: an extra hour at The Broad, a repeat at LACMA, a second round of Universal/CityWalk, or a beach sunset. If you still have energy, take a short trip to the Mulholland Drive overlook hills for the night lights (watch out for the winding roads).

Day 14 — Finale in Hollywood

  • 🎞️ One last loop: Hollywood signs, your favorite angle on the sign, an evening boulevard and a leisurely dinner. LA is best when you’re not rushing: we end the trip without a race, with views and the soft glow of neon.
