🧭 DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 — Vancouver: Stanley Park and the Seawall waterfront

  • 🚶 Stanley Park is a gigantic green horseshoe wrapping around downtown Vancouver. The Seawall walking loop runs along the ocean past pine groves, beaches, the Brockton Point Lighthouse, and totem poles against a backdrop of snowcapped North Shore peaks. Best rhythm for the day: dedicate the morning to a walk or bike ride (bike rentals at the park entrance), and at sunset return to the Coal Harbour waterfront to see skyscraper lights reflected in the harbor water.

Day 2 — Vancouver: Gastown, Wistler Street and the Vancouver Art Gallery

  • 🚶 Gastown is the city’s historic core with cobblestone streets, cast-iron lampposts, and the famous steam clock. A Victorian loft vibe blends with trendy galleries and coffee shops. Next, the Vancouver Art Gallery (750 Hornby St): a collection of Canadian and international art, temporary exhibitions, and a calm inner courtyard. Very close by is lively Robson Street for shopping and cafés.

Day 3 — Vancouver: UBC and the Museum of Anthropology

  • 🚶 A scenic road with bay views leads to the University of British Columbia campus. The UBC Museum of Anthropology (6393 NW Marine Dr) is an iconic space with totem halls and collections from the Indigenous peoples of the Northwest Coast. After the museum, head out to the cliffs and quiet beaches, where a panorama opens over the Strait of Georgia and Vancouver’s mountains.

Day 4 — North Vancouver: Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain

  • 🚶 Capilano Suspension Bridge (3735 Capilano Rd) is a 137-meter suspension bridge over the Capilano canyon among cedars and firs, with a treetop walk and glass platforms jutting out over the cliffs. End the day on Grouse Mountain: a gondola ride up, viewpoints over the city and the bay, and at dusk—the metropolis lights at your feet.

Day 5 — Sea-to-Sky transfer to Whistler: the village, Peak 2 Peak

  • 🚗 The Vancouver → Whistler drive on the Sea‑to‑Sky Highway (Hwy 99) is one of the most beautiful in the world: Howe Sound fjord, Shannon Falls, the Stawamus Chief granite monolith. Nonstop travel time 1h45–2h15. In Whistler: a pedestrian village with stone cottages, restaurants, and the Peak 2 Peak gondola linking Whistler and Blackcomb peaks over a glacial valley.

Day 6 — Ferries and gardens: Whistler → Victoria

  • ⛴ It’s best to leave in the morning: Whistler → Tsawwassen ferry terminal ~2h–2h20; ferry to Swartz Bay (Victoria) ~1h35; then ~35–40 minutes to downtown. Along the way—views of islands and sailboats. In summer, an alternative is a seaplane (Harbour Air) between city centers—a fast and unforgettable flight over bays and mountains.

Day 7 — Victoria: Downtown Inner Harbour, Fairmont Empress, and a botanical wonder

  • 🚶 The Inner Harbour waterfront features the grand facades of the British Columbia Parliament Buildings, the storied Fairmont Empress hotel (721 Government St), and yachts beneath English-style facades. By day—the Royal BC Museum (675 Belleville St) with interactive exhibits on nature and cultures; in the evening—tea or a cocktail in the Empress’s historic halls.

Day 8 — Victoria: The Butchart Gardens and Craigdarroch Castle

  • 🚶 The Butchart Gardens (800 Benvenuto Ave, Brentwood Bay) are 55 acres of poetic landscapes: a Japanese Garden with maples, an Italian courtyard, and sunny terraces with bay views. On the way back—the Victorian mansion Craigdarroch Castle (1050 Joan Crescent) with carved wood and stained glass: a walk through the era of gold rushes and coal on the island.

Day 9 — Flight east to the Rockies: Victoria → Calgary, evening downtown

  • ✈️ YYJ → YYC flight ~1h25–1h35 (direct flights available). In the evening—Calgary Tower (101 9 Ave SW) with glass floor panels and a 360° view over the prairies and foothills; dinner at one of the steakhouses along Stephen Ave.

Day 10 — Calgary → Banff: hot springs and panoramas

  • 🚗 Calgary → Banff transfer ~1h30 (128 km via Trans‑Canada Hwy 1) or shuttle 1h45–2h. Walk along Banff Avenue, the Bow Falls cascades, and ride the Banff Gondola up to the top of Sulphur Mountain—a loop ridge trail with views over the Bow River valley and mountain ranges.

Day 11 — Lake Louise and Moraine Lake: turquoise glacial waters

  • 🚶 Morning at Lake Louise brings emerald water and the white Victoria Glacier above the lake’s mirror. Next—Moraine Lake: the road is closed to private cars; access is via Parks Canada/operator shuttles or Roam (combo with 8X). From the moraine, the iconic view of the “Valley of the Ten Peaks” opens up: the lake’s turquoise, dark firs, and a caravan of peaks—the very “postcard” of the Canadian Rockies.

Day 12 — Icefields Parkway: Lake Louise → Jasper

  • 🚗 232 km along glaciers and turquoise lakes: Bow Lake and the falls, the Peyto viewpoint, the narrow Mistaya Canyon, the ice of the Columbia Icefield and the glass Skywalk terrace over the abyss. Pure driving is ~3–3.5 hours, but with stops it easily turns into a slow 6–8-hour journey. The finale is the roaring Athabasca Falls and arrival in Jasper among spruce trees and mountain rivers.

Day 13 — Jasper: Maligne Canyon, lakes and Spirit Island

  • 🚶 In the morning — Maligne Canyon with suspension bridges over milky-white water, then — the road along Medicine Lake to Maligne Lake: a boat trip to Spirit Island amid turquoise water and gray granite — the archetype of the Canadian landscape.

Day 14 — Jasper → Edmonton: North Saskatchewan River and museums

  • 🚗 Transfer ~4 hours (365 km) to Edmonton, a walk through the vast river valley with bridges and trails. To finish — the Royal Alberta Museum (RAM) and the Art Gallery of Alberta on Churchill Square, dinner in the ICE District.
