🧭 DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 — Arrival, Rheinufer and an Altstadt pub crawl

  • ✈️ Arrival at Düsseldorf Airport (DUS). From Terminal C via the underground passage to the S‑Bahn station “Flughafen Terminal” (S11 goes straight to the main station), or take the SkyTrain for ~7 minutes to the airport’s long-distance rail station. Check into the hotel and take a quick shower — it’s time to get to know the city.

  • 🚶 Rheinuferpromenade — the best first walk: views of the bridges, the Rheinturm tower, and boats against the media harbor backdrop. At sunset the promenade comes alive with street musicians and runners; the vibe is absolutely “youthful.”

  • 🍺 Altstadt pub crawl (the whole reason people come!). Düsseldorf’s historic center is called “the longest bar counter in the world”: within half a kilometer of lanes there are more than two hundred pubs, bars, and brewpubs. Do the classic loop of iconic Altbier houses: Uerige (Berger Str. 1) with caramel-bitter Alt right by the brew kettles → Zum Schlüssel (Bolkerstr. 41–47) — copper-amber Original Schlüssel and crispy pork knuckle → Kürzer (Kurze Str. 18–20) — the “new wave” of Alt in an industrial interior → Im Füchschen (Ratinger Str. 28) — a living classic with the legendary snack “Himmel & Ääd.” Between stops it’s 3–8 minutes on foot — convenient and safe.
  • 🍹 Night finale: Silq Club (Mertensgasse 2) — a compact, stylish dancefloor in the very heart of Altstadt (house/electronic). Alternative: the cocktail bar/club Sir Walter (Heinrich-Heine-Allee 12) with a crowd of locals and a “bar by day, party by night” setup.

Day 2 — MedienHafen + Rheinturm + Rudas Studios club

  • 🏙️ MedienHafen by day: the futuristic “Gehry buildings” Neuer Zollhof with wavy facades, glass and steel around the docks, photogenic stairs and art objects. The district is ideal for dynamic photos and reels.
  • 👀 Rheinturm observation deck: a quick elevator ride to the panorama — the Rhine, the old town, bridge arches and the geometry of the harbor. A great spot for the “golden hour.”

  • 🍸 Evening: bar hop along the MedienHafen waterfront, then Rudas Studios (Zollhof/ Kaistr. 7–9/15) — a former film studio, now a club and event space with top-tier sound and dance nights until morning.

Day 3 — Art + Altstadt’s evening bar scene + Nachtresidenz

  • 🎨 Ehrenhof cluster: drop into Kunstpalast (Ehrenhof 4–5) — strong exhibitions from old masters to contemporary; nearby NRW‑Forum (Ehrenhof 2) — media art, photography and pop culture. On the way — the green Hofgarten, Germany’s oldest public park — great for a picnic before the evening marathon.
  • 🍻 Altstadt 2.0: dive into the alleys of Bolkerstraße and Ratinger Straße: standing tables by the brewpubs, servers carrying Alt in mini-kegs, the rhythm is upbeat and easygoing. For a “local shot” — the herbal liqueur Killepitsch at the cult Et Kabüffke (Flinger Str. 1).
  • 💃 Club icon: Nachtresidenz (Bahnstraße 13–15) — a large dancefloor under the dome of a historic building, pop/electronic/events. The dress code is stricter than average: sneakers are OK, but the overall look should be smart casual.

Day 4 — Active: trampolines + bouldering, night — Salon des Amateurs

  • 🤸‍♂️ Jump Galaxy (Willstätterstr. 12): 120+ trampolines, pro zones, airbags and interactive features — an hour of active cardio release (plan ~90 minutes including briefing/breaks).
  • 🧗 Monkeyspot Boulderhalle (Schiessstraße 52, Oberkassel): 1400 m² of boulders for all levels, rental climbing shoes, a chill zone with coffee. A great alternative for a rainy day.
  • 🎶 Night — Salon des Amateurs (Grabbeplatz 4, in the Kunsthalle building): a legendary intimate club with avant-garde electronic music, residents, and an art-café vibe that by night turns into a dance laboratory.

Day 5 — Water and sand: Unterbacher See SUP + Stadtstrand

  • 🏖️ Unterbacher See (Nord-/Süd‑Strand, Kleiner/Großer Torfbruch, 40627): clean water, beach areas, boat and SUP rentals. Perfect for half a day: a 60–90 minute SUP session, then relaxing on the sand and volleyball. Easy to reach: city buses to Nord‑Strand, or 20–25 minutes by car/car sharing.
  • 🌅 Back to the center: the “city beach” StadtStrand at Tonhallenufer — loungers, DJ sets in season, and a sunset over the Rhine beneath glowing bridges.
  • 🍺 Dinner/late bar: Schumacher (Oststr. 123 — Stammhaus; or “Im Goldenen Kessel”, Bolkerstr. 44) — another school of classic Alt with hearty Rhineland cuisine.

Day 6 — Bridge-loop bike ride + repeat the media highlights

  • 🚴 Morning bridge loop: start on the Rheinufer → Oberkasseler Brücke → to the west bank (view of the center and the tower) → down along the waterfront → back across Rheinkniebrücke. ~10–12 km, flat and group-friendly.

  • 📸 Reshoot your favorite MedienHafen angles (by day and at dusk) — glossy surfaces, reflections in the water, perfect short clips for social media.

  • 🕺 Night velvet: return to the spots you liked — Sir Walter for cocktails or the compact Silq. Move as a group, alternate the dancefloor with fresh air in Altstadt’s lanes — it’s easier to keep the pace of an 8-day tour that way.

Day 7 — Wake Day: Wasserski Langenfeld

  • 🌊 Wasserski Langenfeld (Baumberger Str. 88, 40764): Europe’s largest cable park with multiple lines and an artificial surf wave. Plan: 30–45 minute transfer (train/bus or car sharing), rent a basic kit, a 2-hour session + chilling by the water at the Seehaus/beach bar. A great “detox” after clubs and bars.
  • 🍽️ In the evening — a calm dinner and light cocktails in MedienHafen. Give your muscles a rest: a warm bath, an early night — the final day is tomorrow.

Day 8 — K20 / Kunsthalle + shopping and a farewell set

  • 🖼️ Morning at K20 (Grabbeplatz 5) or Kunsthalle Düsseldorf (Grabbeplatz 4): strong collections of modernism and the current scene, lots of air and light. Nearby, the Königsallee boutiques — quick shopping for sneakers/accessories.
  • 🥂 A final drink on the Rheinufer. If you didn’t make it — one last Killepitsch shot at Et Kabüffke, a group photo, and book a taxi/car share for an early flight.
