🧭 DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 — Arrival in Chengdu, People’s Park and teahouses

  • 🌿 A calm start after the journey: a walk through People’s Park (Renmin Park) — green alleys, a lake with paddle boats, kids’ rides, and famous teahouses. Kids get to move around; adults “switch gears” with a cup of jasmine tea or pu’er. In the evening — an early dinner and rest up for the “panda” day.

Day 2 — Pandas: Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

  • 🐼 An early visit to the Panda Base is the best chance to see active giant pandas and red pandas before their daytime nap. Split the route into short loops of 60–90 minutes with breaks at shady pavilions. Preschoolers will like the “kids’” paths; school-age kids will enjoy the halls with stories about behavior and conservation. Bring water/snacks; a stroller fits on the main paths.

Day 3 — Tianfu Square: Chengdu Museum + Sichuan Science & Technology Museum

  • 🏛️ In the morning — Chengdu Museum: beautiful “stories of the city” in the exhibits, shadow puppets, and installation halls that make kids stop and figure out “how it worked.” After lunch — the Sichuan Science & Technology Museum (on the north side of the square): interactive halls, optics, robots — an ideal science “anti-lesson” for the whole family.

Day 4 — Archaeology, the gold “Sun Bird,” and a riverside park

  • 🗿 Jinsha Site Museum: the ancient Shu city and 21st-century discoveries that give kids a real “wow” effect — the gold “Sun Bird” emblem, excavation models, dwelling models. Nearby is Huanghuaxi Park (plane-tree shade, bridges, ducks): perfect for free play after the museum. A “beautiful and educational” day, no rush.

Day 5 — Chengdu Zoo + 339 Tower (panda theme and views)

  • 🦒 Chengdu Zoo — a compact route through enclosures and pavilions, stroller-friendly. Plan: 2 hours of watching → ice cream → a break at the playground. In the evening — the 339 Tower area (Tianfu Panda Tower): along the embankment there are many cafes and light installations; kids love watching the “panda” lighting.

Day 6 — Polar oceanarium: Chengdu Haichang Polar Ocean Park

  • 🐧 Themed pavilions, marine-animal programs, easy navigation, and indoor areas in case of rain/heat. The “3-block” tactic: show/feeding → calm halls → play area. On the way out — souvenir photos and a light dinner.

Day 7 — Transfer to Dujiangyan: old street and embankment

  • 🚄 Chengdu → Dujiangyan: high-speed trains run frequently, travel time ~20–45 minutes (depending on the schedule). Check in and walk along the canals of the old town: lanterns, benches, light street food. Early night: tomorrow — “up-close” pandas.

Day 8 — Dujiangyan Panda Base (Panda Valley): a “quiet” day with pandas

  • 🐼 Panda Valley is a more intimate space: viewing platforms close to the enclosures, fewer crowds. For kids — clear signs and routes that make it easy to alternate watching and resting. After lunch — a riverside park or a light ride on electric carts (if available).

Day 9 — Mount Qingcheng: cable car, bamboo, and a “fairy-tale forest”

  • ⛰️ An easy family trek on the “Front” Qingcheng route (the cable car cuts down the climb), bamboo groves, temples, ponds with crucian carp. For kids — a “mission” to spot carved animal masks and bas-reliefs. In the evening — a pool/spa at the hotel and an early dinner.

Day 10 — Transfer to Wenjiang: Floraland (outdoor amusement park)

  • 🎠 Floraland (国色天乡·陆地乐园) — carousels, family rides, themed zones, and large open areas to “burn off energy.” Convenient for a mixed-age group: for little ones — “baby zones,” for older kids — slides and towers.

Day 11 — Wenjiang: Teddy museum + free play in the park

  • 🧸 Teddy Bear Museum of China (if it’s operating on your travel dates) — huge halls with teddy bears, 3D zones, and fairy-tale installations. Afterwards — a picnic and playgrounds in the greenery (there are many shady alleys in the neighborhoods around the park).

Day 12 — Transfer to Pidu and Happy Valley Chengdu (full day)

  • 🎢 Happy Valley is a large urban amusement park with nine themed zones: from carousels and water rides to shows and parades. Family strategy: 1) arrive at opening, 2) 12:00–15:00 — calmer zones and lunch, 3) toward evening — “mop up” the hits while lines drop.

Day 13 — Nature and science in the city: Chengdu Natural History Museum + a big park

  • 🦖 Chengdu Natural History Museum — big dinosaurs, dioramas, minerals, and “how the world works” explained in kid-friendly language. Afterward — a green park (Bailuwan/Huanghuaxi): running, scooters, birdwatching. In the evening — pack suitcases at a calm pace.

Day 14 — Finale in the center: Tianfu Square, souvenirs, and departure

  • 🛍️ A family stroll through the center: Tianfu Square, the streets by Taikoo Li, light souvenirs, a last cup of tea. Transfer to the airport with time to spare (factor in traffic and your chosen airport: TFU or CTU).
