🧭 DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 — Arrival at BER and check-in by the Zoo: a gentle start

  • After landing at BER, it’s convenient to get to the center on the fast FEX train to Hauptbahnhof (≈ 23 min), then one stop on the S-Bahn to Zoologischer Garten—and you’re right by the hotels, parks, and cafés. During the day, stroll along Kurfürstendamm and to the Memorial Church (Gedächtniskirche), get ice cream, and visit a playground in Tiergarten. In the evening: an early dinner, early bedtime—an action-packed kids’ program lies ahead.

Day 2 — The big day: Berlin Zoo + Aquarium

  • 🦓 Zoo Berlin is the oldest and one of the most species-rich zoos in Germany; nearby is the separate Aquarium Berlin. Enter through the “Elephant Gate” in the morning: the animals are active and the lines are shorter. Do short “loops” of 60–90 minutes with mandatory breaks at playgrounds and cafés. The aquarium is perfect for mid-day: the semi-dark halls give a break from stimulation, and jellyfish, corals, reptile terrariums, and ant “farms” captivate kids. Finish with the viewing platforms by the waterfowl and the gift shop (agree in advance on “one choice” per child).

Day 3 — Hands-on science: Deutsches Technikmuseum + Science Center Spectrum

  • 🚂 The German Museum of Technology is an “adventure park under a roof”: airplanes and locomotives, ships and telecom, the first computers and a “time-builder” set. Nearby is the Science Center Spectrum with hundreds of interactive experiments on light, sound, electricity, and optics—touching and trying is a must! Afterward, have a picnic and free play in the nearby Park am Gleisdreieck with trampolines and a water play area in summer.

Day 4 — Natural History Museum + a kids’ playground in Prenzlauer Berg

  • 🦕 The Museum für Naturkunde greets you with the legendary Giraffatitan—the tallest mounted dinosaur in the world—plus a meteorite hall, whale skeletons, and nature’s “cabinets of curiosities.” Afterward, take the tram to Prenzlauer Berg: playgrounds at Kollwitzplatz, buns and juice—an ideal “unloading” block after the museum.

Day 5 — Children’s museums: Labyrinth Kindermuseum or MACHmit!

  • 🎭 Labyrinth Kindermuseum (Wedding) is not about “looking” but “doing”: quest stations, tactile zones, mini workshops. An alternative is MACHmit! in the former Eliaskirche church (Prenzlauer Berg): climbing nets up to the ceiling, creative tasks, and temporary exhibitions tailored to the child’s age. Plan 2.5–4 hours and a calm walk afterward.

Day 6 — Tierpark Berlin: a huge landscape zoo

  • 🦬 Tierpark Berlin is the capital’s second zoo and Europe’s largest landscape animal park: spacious enclosures, petting areas, carousels, and lots of greenery. Arrive at opening, bring a scooter/stroller, and make a “top list” of 6–8 stops (big cats, aviary, farm, elephants, bears, walrus feeding—seasonal).

Day 7 — Gärten der Welt: worlds of gardens + cable car

  • 🌿 In Marzahn you’ll find Chinese, Japanese, Balinese, and other themed gardens, kids’ routes and playgrounds. It’s easiest to get there on the U5 to “Kienberg – Gärten der Welt,” then take the cable car over Kienberg Hill—an adventure in itself for kids. In summer: fountains and water play; in winter: quiet alleys for photos and hide-and-seek.

Day 8 — FEZ-Berlin (Wuhlheide): a gigantic children’s center

  • 🚀 FEZ is all about science and creativity festivals, interactive exhibits, workshops, and quests; around it is the Wuhlheide forest park with a mini railway and playgrounds. Day formula: morning activity block indoors → lunch → an hour of free play in the park → a calm finish in a café.

Day 9 — Potsdam: Filmpark Babelsberg

  • 🎬 Movie day! Filmpark Babelsberg features sets, stunt shows (seasonal), 4D cinema, and special-effects stages. Getting there from Zoologischer Garten to Potsdam Hbf is easiest on the S7 (≈ 25–35 min), then tram/bus to the park. Kids will enjoy the interactive exhibits: “News Studio,” “Secrets of Stunts,” “Sound and Light.”

Day 10 — Potsdam: the tropical world of Biosphäre + Volkspark

  • 🌴 Biosphäre Potsdam is a warm greenhouse with waterfalls, ponds, butterflies, and “jungle under a roof.” Nearby is Volkspark Potsdam with bike paths, play areas, and picnic spots. Return to Berlin—an evening with no plans: a cartoon, puzzles, early bedtime.

Day 11 — Water fun: Tropical Islands (1 night optional)

  • 🏝️ A huge indoor water world in a former aircraft hangar: a warm lagoon, a “tropical sea” with a beach, water-slide towers, kids’ splash zones and mini jungles. Getting there: regional train to Brand Tropical Islands station (≈ 50–60 min) and a free 10-minute shuttle; you can stay overnight in the on-site hotel/tents for maximum comfort.

Day 12 — Return to Berlin + Tempelhofer Feld

  • 🛼 After the water attractions — a “freedom” day: the former Tempelhofer Feld airport is kilometers of smooth runways for scooters, bikes, and kites. A great place to burn off energy and digest impressions.

Day 13 — LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Berlin + a walk around Potsdamer Platz

  • 🧱 Indoor LEGO play worlds: DUPLO zones, a miniature “Berlin,” a 4D cinema, workshops. Adults without children have restricted entry — plan your visit as a “family team.” Then — a walk around Potsdamer Platz, cafés and sweets.

Day 14 — Finale: the child’s favorite place + souvenirs

  • Put together a “choose-your-own finale”: go back to the zoo, catch up on what you missed at the Technikmuseum, or just spend the day at the Tiergarten playgrounds and by Café am Neuen See with little boats (in the warm season). Stock up on postcards/magnets — and off to the airport without fuss.
